About Upgrading
If you are not sure if you need to upgrade your cubes to the latest software, go to the website of PERCUSSA at http://www.percussa.com/ On the website you can find the latest version of the software which is available. You can compare this version number with the number printed on the label on the CD sleeve of the installation CD included with the AudioCubes. The version numbers are always a combination of a month and a year (e.g. 092007), so it is easy to understand if you have the latest version or not. Installing the software twice on the AudioCubes does not cause any problems, so if you are not sure, feel free to do the upgrade again.
About the upgrade tool
The software on the AudioCubes can be updated using the Upgrade tool which is included with the software. This is the icon of the Upgrade tool :
- On Mac, go to the AudioCubes folder in Applications and double-click on the Firmware Upgrade tool icon
- On PC, go to Start > Programs > Percussa > AudioCubes and click on the Firmware Upgrade tool icon
When you start the software the following window is displayed :
Next, go to the AudioCubes folder and open the updates folder in which the software is stored for the AudioCubes (called the “firmware” for the cubes) :
- On Mac, go to the AudioCubes folder in Applications and double-click the folder icon for the “updates” folder
- On PC, go to Start > Programs > Percussa > AudioCubes and click on “Firmware Files”
Inside the “updates” folder, there should be a .bin file (e.g. 092007.bin) which contains the software for the processor in the AudioCubes.
How to use the upgrade tool
You can now upgrade your AudioCubes using the following step-by-step procedure :
- disconnect cube
- switch off cube
- switch on cube, hold button, cube turns green then blue, then release button
- connect cube
- click find and select your cube
- drag .bin file from the updates folder into the rectangular drop region in the window of the upgrade tool
- cube starts flashing red, and when the upgrade is finished, the cube reboots and turns white
- firmware upgrade finished, repeat for other cubes
Important notes about software upgrades
Some important notes about using the software in the cubes with the software installed on your computer :
- Always make sure you use the same version of the firmware with all your cubes
- Always use the firmware on the cubes that comes with the software release – do not mix different versions of firmware with different versions of software on your computer
- Even though the installers of the AudioCube software do not overwrite your installed software, we recommend you always uninstall the old version before you install a new version.
